Pratt & Whitney Power Systems (PWPS) has designed the 6B 1st-stage bucket for improved durability and repairability through the use of P&W alloy and coating systems that deliver maximum performance up to, and including, 2042°F.
Frame 6B 1st-stage Bucket Features Include:
- PWA 1437™ directionally solidified (DS) base alloy
- PWA 273™ internal aluminide
- PWA 286™ low-pressure plasma spray (LPPS) metallic coating
A Cost-Effective Solution
The Pratt & Whitney components offer advantages in three different ways:
- Low initial cost
- Repairability guarantee
- Extended part life
IGT Parts
Cooling Scheme
The Pratt & Whitney Frame 6B 12-hole 1st-stage bucket optimizes the size and location of the cooling holes for improved part life with no change to the OEM-designed cooling flow or airfoil geometry.
PWA 1437™ DS Alloy
Pratt & Whitney's PWA 1437™ alloy is a superior alternative to the OEM's base material. Pratt & Whitney developed this material specifically for use in industrial gas turbines. The Pratt & Whitney PWA 1437™ alloy and advanced metallic coating provide significant advantages to other, alternative material systems available in the market today.
